	Operations Day -- 182/1998 (July 1, 1998)

	                                       13:46:32 17:20:00

	Pass Summary:
Today's pass was the first time we have loaded the automatic time
tag bin to change to low rate RTSW at EOT instead of EOT + 5 minutes. Data
rates were changed at EOT+5 min in the past as a precaution in case the FOT
needed to extend the pass.
By having the data rates switch automatically at EOT, the FOT will
still be saving pass time and NOAA will not experience a 5 minute loss of
telemetry as they have previously.

	ACE FLIGHT OPERATIONS DAILY REPORT

	Operations Day -- 190/1998 (July 9, 1998)

	Orbit Number -- 98190

Pass Highlights: station: DSS-16 AOS LOS

	                                     14:00:00 17:40:00

	Pass Summary:
At the beginning of today's pass, it was noticed that Autonomy bin
30 fired during the non-contact period. A preliminary observation of
telemetry attributed this to the SEPICA current spiking above its safing
bin's limit.
The safing bin fires when the current eclipses the value of .62 A
for three consecutive seconds. When this occurs, SEPICA is turned off in a
safe manner (currents set to zero, op htr disabled, survival htr enabled).
Further investigation found the data processing unit (S3DPU) for
SEPICA (as well as SWICS & SWIMS) had been reset. In addition, the SWICS
and SWIMS instruments were still on but not operating at their previous
voltage levels (they were in standby mode).
The instrumenters for the three affected instruments were contacted
and it was decided to investigate the data before taking any action to turn
SEPICA back on. The SWICS and SWIMS instruments were placed in a safe
configuration.
"At this time, it is still unknown what caused the S3DPU to reset.
Analysis is ongoing.
"

	Anomalies:
	     * S98-0011- At AOS CLCW indicated that an Autonomy Bin had
fired on the Active C&DH. Summary pages revealed that SEPICA had been
powered OFF, its operational heater disabled, its survival heater enabled
and 30 was the Autonomy bin which had fired.
	     * S98-0012 - Cfgmon failures led to finding that the S3DPU
had reset itself. As a result, all three instruments, SEPICA, SWICS and
SWIMS were placed in Standby Mode. This also caused SWICS' and SWIMS' HV
supplies to be ramped down to zero.
	     *  DR# G3907, G98-0075 - No Ranging available for entire pass.

	ACE FLIGHT OPERATIONS DAILY REPORT

	Operations Day -- 191/1998 (July 10, 1998)
	Mission Day -- 320
	Orbit Number -- 98191

Pass Highlights: station: DSS-66 AOS: 12:45 LOS: 16:15

	Pass Summary:
Commands were not getting into the spacecraft. Upon initial
troubleshooting with the DSN site, commands were getting into the active
C&DH. The recorder dump was started and the LOS time tag bin was loaded for
switching the data rate to RTSW at EOT.
Obtained DSS-16 support and poked the inactive C&DH. Continued
troubleshooting DSS-66. Near end of pass, found that the command modulation
index at the DSN site was configured incorrectly. Poke commands were sent
and verified.
The SSR dump will be completed tomorrow. The instrument commanding
that was to be done will be delayed. Data analysis suggests that the S3DPU
reset caused SEPICA's safing bin to fire in the previous anomaly. Attempts
will be made to check the memory.
Once the memory has been verified, Instrument operations can proceed.

	Anomalies:
	     *  DR # L02309, G98-0076 - D66 had incorrectly set its
modulation index to 0.53 rather than the required 0.86 rad. This resulted
in MOC's inability to successful command to C&DH B. Once correct index
selected, commanding was successful.
