ACE Weekly Report: 03-07-01 All ACE spacecraft subsystems are performing nominally. An attitude maneuver was performed on 03-02-01. The next attitude maneuver is scheduled for 03-09-01. Maneuver Start Time=15:43:57 Attitude Maneuver End Time=15:49:47 Pre-Maneuver HGA = -2.54 deg. Sun Angle = 12.43 deg. Post-Maneuver HGA= 4.28 deg. Sun Angle = 5.82 deg. Current S/C range: 1499233.965 km Total Percentage Data Capture February 1-28: 99.976% On DOY 064 (03-04-01) FOT executed OCR SWPX-028 to uplink flight software load. Experimenter will continue to monitor instrument status. Anomalies: G01-0021: During the precal segment, station 27 failed to see test commands sent from the MOC. They reported that they would need to reboot the LMC. After this reboot, the Test Commands and NO_OP commands were received, and the support continued through AOS until 14:32:48 when the Timing System failed and all telemetry to the MOC ceased. Station 27 personnel attempted to correct the problem and bring the system back online but were unsuccessful. The MOC contacted the Ops Chief and coordinated a support transfer to station 16. At approximately 15:31 UT, telemetry was restored and Station 16 completed the support with no problems. All affected SSR slices were redumped during the D16 support (DR #G06791). S01-0002: On DOY 060 (03-01-01) ACE executed OCR ULEIS-034 per the instrumenter's request. Nominally the FOT manually close the ULEIS shutter prior to a major solar event and manually open it following its conclusion. The commands sent on 3-01-01 were to place the ULEIS shutter in an autonomous mode so that it would self-regulate the opening and closing of its shutter. Approximately 45 minutes after the command activities had completed the FOT was notified that ULEIS had closed its shutter. A new OCR was submitted by the instrumenter and executed to disable autonomous motor motion and return the shutter to the 100% position via discrete command. "ULEIS suffered absolutely no harmful effects, missing only a brief amount of observation time during an extremely quiet period. While the shutter was closed we acquired roughly 45 minutes worth of calibration data with our alpha sources. The programmer was made aware of the problem and based on the behavior of the instrument, was able to isolate the code section at fault and discover the bug. At a future date we will evaluate whether a software upload to fix the problem is warranted."
