ACE Weekly 07/03/2012 - 07/09/2012 All ACE spacecraft subsystems are performing as expected. ======================================================================== Orbit/Attitude: No maneuvers were completed this week. The next attitude maneuver is scheduled for Thursday 07/12/2012. ======================================================================= OCRs: None ======================================================================== Activities: Data Capture: 100% DOY 183-190 2012 The AFSCN network connection has been renewed. AFSCN provides a backup for NOAA SWPC (Space Weather Prediction Center). In the summer, NOAA's network of antennas (all northern hemisphere) have significant overlap of view and AFSCN tracking is rarely requested. (AFSCN support was last requested 2/15/2012.) NOAA SWPC requested a test on 7/5/2012 to ensure that everything was still working. During the test, it took AFSCN 1 hour before they could track ACE. Both LION and POGO stations attempted to track. The network from AFSCN to NASA worked successfully. However, recent MMOC software upgrades (5/24/2012--for using WS1 as a supplement to DSN) resulted in the data from AFSCN from not being forwarded to NOAA SWPC. The software was fixed after the 7/5/2012 test. Note, the NASA GSFC MMOC was inserted into the AFSCN->NOAA SWPC data flow to provide Reed-Solomon decoding. On a related topic, NOAA SWPC has occasionally had problems processing SIS instrument data from the MMOC. During these times, NOAA SWPC was still processing MAG, EPAM and SWEPAM-I instrument data correctly. One theory is that multiple connections from the MMOC causes problems for NOAA SWPC processing (DSN->NOAA SWPC and AFSCN->NOAA SWPC, both routed through the MMOC). The MMOC software has been updated this week so that the MMOC only connects to NOAA SWPC when it is receiving data. ======================================================================== Anomalies: Correction to last week's report regarding the SWEPAM-E Overcount Alarm. The SWEPAM team is looking at modifying the memory to exclude the noisy sensor channel in the overcount detection code, not to change the overcount threshold. The SWEPAM-E memory dump scheduled for the upcoming week will help prepare to exclude the noisy sensor channel.
