Multiwavelength Survey Coordination

The GALEX mission plan is designed to provide major overlap with other space- and ground-based survey programs.

The following plot shows the GALEX sensitivities compared to those of the SWIRE Legacy program, the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), and the 2MASS near infrared survey, and the Digitized Palomar Sky Surveys I and II. Three representative spectral energy distributions are shown, for a Starburst galaxy with low extinction (SBL), a starburst galaxy with high extinction (SBH), and an elliptical galaxy.
