GALEX MethodThe GALEX method exploits demonstrated techniques to (1) use the Lyman break to measure redshift and distance in photometric and spectroscopic data (e.g., Steidel et al, 1996) ; (2) UV slope to measure extinction (Meurer etal, 1995); and (3) UV luminosity to measure star formation rate and its history over cosmic time (e.g., Madau et al., 1996)
