Schedule of monitoring observations in the X-rays (PI: Wijnands, unless otherwise noted):

  • Chandra HRC on the inner 1.7 square degrees. Status: already taken 2005 June 5.

  • Chandra HRC on the inner 1.7 square degrees. Taken 2005 October 17-24. Reduction is in progress.

  • XMM Newton on the inner 1.7 square degrees. Taken February 27, 2006.

  • XMM Newton on the inner 1.7 square degrees. Scheduled for early April 2006.

  • Chandra ACIS on the inner 10 arcminutes around Sgr A*: 10 ks snapshots planned to occur every few months throughout 2006 (PI: Baganoff). Tentative schedule:

    • Week of 2006 May 1 (35 ks)

    • Week of 2006 May 29 (5 ks)

    • Week of 2006 July 3 (5 ks)

    • Week of 2006 July 24 (5 ks)

    • Week of 2006 Septermber 25 (5 ks)

    • Week of 2006 October 23 (5 ks)

  • Chandra ACIS large project. Should be taken in summer 2006. We will distribute a catalog of new point sources within a week of receiving the data.

Schedule of monitoring observations in the radio (PI: Hyman, except as indicated):

  • VLA 330 MHz: 4x4 degree field of view. 2005 September 16, 17, 22, 27. Observations taken, no new transients found.

    • Mar 22 04:00 Mar 22 09:00

    • Apr 01 05:00 Apr 01 09:00

  • Allen Telescope Array: When not looking for Aliens, G. Bower will look for transients. It will operate at 0.5-11.2 GHz, and should come online in mid-2006.

Follow-up programs:

  • X-ray transient (2005): I think Rudy has a VLA and Chandra project for this. Rudy, can you remind me of the details?

  • X-ray transient (2006): Chandra on one transient, to monitor the flux with 5 observations of 5 ks each (PI: Wijnands).

  • X-ray transient (2006): VLA on one transient with a 2 hr observations to establish a detection, and 5 observation of 2 hrs each if it is worth following up (PI: Wijnands).

  • Radio transient (2006): Chandra on one radio transient for 50 ks, plus 4 observations of 5 ks each if it is detected (PI: Wijnands).

  • Radio transient (2006): A VLA proposal was submitted for Oct 1 to follow up on GCRT J1745-3009 (PI: Hyman). They plan to submit further proposals.

  • X-ray transient (2005-2006): I am assuming that Z. Wang will continue to obtain Magellan observations to look for infrared counterparts to transients.
