Welcome
to the home page of the Palomar 60-inch Automation Project. The
Palomar Observatory,
owned and operated by the
California Institute
of Technology and located in north San Diego County California, supports
the research of the Caltech faculty, post-doctoral fellows and students, and
that of researchers at Caltech's collaborating institutions.
Under the guidance of Professors Fiona Harrison and Shri Kulkarni of Cal
Tech, we are in the process of fully automating the day-to-day operations
of the 60-inch telescope. Our primary scientific objective is the immediate
observation of gamma-ray bursts and other transient phenomenon. We
hope to have the telescope fully operation by September 2003.
